I've always found Cradle of Filth a bit difficult band to deal with. I don't like the band very much, I don't like the somewhat misogynic tone in their lyrics, but I do like the atmosphere they can reach at their best and I do like some of their music. Dusk and Her Embrace was, for example, a fine album indeed. Midian isn't nearly as good, but has it's moments. The beginning of the album is good: "Cthulhu Dawn", "Saffron's Curse" and "Death Magick for Adepts" are all good tracks. Rest of it is less impressive. ****
Six Months Later:
I'm dropping a star here. Indeed, the beginning of the album is good, but the rest of it isn't as good. Also, Midian pales in comparison to their better work (mostly Dusk...). ***
Its okay but its not as good as their older work. I think the best track on it is her ghost in the fog

Somewhat of a trend with most CoF albums for me - they tend to lose their appeal after time. Midian is a very concise and well done work though if one´s into the band, a lot better than Cruelty and the Beast before it. Can´t even compare it to Vempire-EP though - kick ass theatrical black all the way.

Jesus... this album is the best! Saffron's Curse got me crying, Her Ghost in the Fog touched me deeply, Cthulhu Dawn amazed me, the intro was superb (as always), Tearing the Veil from grace inspired me... I love this album...

one of the greatest cof albums ever they really bring you into another state of mind especially with the keyboarding without losing the sense of heavines and i like how they talk about the ancient city of midian like they talk about in the bible

Cradle of Filth has always been a very creative band, yet Midian is good with songs like Saffron's
Curse, Her Ghost in The Fog, etc. etc. but in my opinion it doesn't match match up to the effort of Cruelty and the Beast ( The album that had 9 songs on The Lovecraft & Witchhearts album which is their greatist hits album!)

ah, yes cradle of filth a truly dark and evil band. songs like saffron's curse and herghost in the fog were very deep and dark. tortured sould asylum was great, as was cthulu dawn. amor e morte was pure genious. lord abortion was awesome. shall i reccomend buying this cd....YES!!

what can i say! 'Cradle Of Filth' are the best goddamn band in history and 'Midian' is the most awesome and inspiring masterpiece of an album i've heard to date! the way all of the instruments and Dani's vocals blend in naturally together to make orchestrated gothic madness is pure genius!!!
